For guests short on time, this excursion makes it possible to visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka's most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, in one day. We leave Colombo very early to reach Sigiriya by around 8:00 AM, giving you two to three hours to climb past the water gardens, frescoes and lion's paws to the summit. After lunch, and an optional village experience if time allows, we begin the long drive back to Colombo.

Route: Colombo → Sigiriya → Colombo

This is a very long day with a pick-up around 4:00 AM and a late return. If you prefer a more comfortable pace, ask us about an overnight option in Sigiriya.

Day01

Sigiriya Rock Fortress Day Trip

  • 4:00 AM Pick-up in Colombo and depart for Sigiriya.
  • 8:00–8:30 AM Arrive in Sigiriya and have a short refreshment break.
  • 8:30 AM Visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Allow around 2–3 hours depending on pace and conditions.
  • 11:30 AM Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • 12:30 PM Optional short village experience if timing allows (arranged in advance).
  • 1:30–2:00 PM Begin return journey to Colombo.
  • Evening Return time depends heavily on traffic and stops; it may be late.
